David and I had the pleasure of visiting the beautiful island of Antigua in October. We LOVED it! The island is lovely and the people most gracious.
We stayed at Sandals Grande Antigua on Dickinson Bay. The resort is basically two “villages”. The Caribbean village is lush/tropical and dotted with small cottages and the luxurious Rondovals. The Mediterranean village is highlighted by the outstanding Almond and Cypress Towers where the rooms and suites have phenomenal views of the resort, pool, and amazing Caribbean Sea! The beach was long and the sand was beautiful. The staff was most accommodating and the managers of each “village” are waiting to greet our clients and to show off their prized resort.
David and I scheduled a tour of Antigua through Island Routes. We decided it would be the best way to get to see the island and meet the people. We were not disappointed. We learned Antigua became an independent country from Great Britain on September 19, 1983. We saw Nelson’s Boat Yard, and a cross to mark where Fort Charlotte once was an integral part of the Caribbean defense. Most importantly, we saw a gracious and loving people with a great work ethic.
We left Antigua with the promise we would return, soon!
